Together with Patrick Olivan from Lapp and Anja Höft from Stuttgart Media University, I published an article on organizational ambidexterity with a focus on organizational structures, processes and leadership.

The article explains the application of organizational ambidexterity from the three perspectives of organizational structure (1), processes (2) and leadership (3). The core of ambidexterity is to build up a new business for the future next to day-to-day operations. The desire for efficiency and productivity in your core business is often met with opposing structures, processes and leadership approaches in the innovation environment. The article describes how a balance between efficiency and innovation can still be achieved in several steps:

In the first part, the scientific basis for organizational ambidexterity through structures is presented. Based on this, the implementation of ambidexterity by adapting an organization's processes is considered. The last part describes in a practical way the important role of leadership in implementing ambidexterity.

About the 'Handbuch Unternehmensorganisation':

In an interconnected world, only companies that face the new circumstances quickly and flexibly and see them as a challenge for structural change will survive. The management manual, written for practice, provides the basic knowledge for successful business organization on the way to fully networked processes.
